Metrics and goals

Indicators and targets for assessing climate-related risks and opportunities

Our group aims to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050, and has set a target of 46% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions (18% reduction in Scope 1 emissions) as indicators and targets for assessing and managing climate-related risks and opportunities in 2030. , a 60% reduction in Scope 2 emissions).

Furthermore, since it is expected that the GHG emitted from the use of the houses we supply will be significantly greater than the GHG emitted by our group, we believe that indicators related to housing performance are particularly important factors. In order to solve climate change issues through our business, we have begun considering a "ZEH level ratio of 100%'' in 2025 as an indicator to expand the number of High quality housing that will greatly contribute to solving the problem.

Our group will first work to reduce emissions, and for GHGs that will inevitably be emitted, we will invest in reduction activities commensurate with the amount of emissions (emission reductions and absorption resulting from domestic and overseas emission reduction activities and forest maintenance). We plan to achieve carbon neutrality through offsets and other measures.

Greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1, 2, 3) results

Our group's GHG emissions calculation standards comply with the internationally widely used "GHG Protocol."
GHG emissions in 2022 will be approximately 73,000 t-CO2e under Scope 1 and 2, and approximately 6.152 million t-CO2e under Scope 3.

Achievements

2020 2021 2022
Scope1 69,000t 69,000t 73,000 tons
Scope2
Scope3 - - 6.152 million tons
  • * Scope 3 for FY2020 and FY2021 has not been measured.

Third party guarantee

Our group believes that it is necessary to disclose highly reliable data, so we received third-party verification of GHG emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) for fiscal 2022 and obtained an assurance report.

Goals used to manage climate-related risks and opportunities

Our group has set SBT (Science Based Targets) (*1) in consideration of the CO2 emission reduction level required at the 1.5℃ level, and has set Scope 1 and 2 targets as intermediate targets toward achieving the final goal of "net zero in 2050." We have set a reduction target of 46% for 2030 and are promoting various reduction measures.

The goal

FY2030 FY2050
Greenhouse gas reduction rate 46% 100%
(Scope1) (18%) (100%)
(Scope2) (60%) (100%)
  • * Reduction target based on our group's emissions in fiscal 2020

In addition to improving the environmental performance of housing and utilizing renewable energy, we also have a policy of proactively working to reduce the environmental impact of our business activities and other value chains, including reducing CO2 emissions from the raw materials we purchase and the manufacturing of our products. We also aim to reduce emissions throughout the supply chain (Scope 3) by collaborating with major suppliers. In addition to considering setting CO2 reduction targets for major suppliers, we will promote life cycle assessment initiatives, such as improving the accuracy of calculations for Category 1 and Category 11, which have large emissions.

  • *1 SBT (Science Based Targets) is a system for companies to set target years from 5 to 15 years in advance that is consistent with the levels required by the Paris Agreement (which aims to limit the rise in global temperatures to 1.5℃ above pre-industrial levels). Refers to the GHG emission reduction target set.
