I understand that you are engaged in research regarding the use of carbon dioxide, including artificial photosynthesis. How are you involved in this pavilion?

I am responsible for the exhibition of artificial photosynthesis technology and the creation of related video content. Regarding production, it was important for visitors to understand what kind of technology artificial photosynthesis is.It is also important to compare it with existing technologies that are always relevant (for example, solar power) and to make visitors aware of the advantages. While paying special attention to this point, I am hoping to present the appeal of artificial photosynthesis technology for demonstrations that has not yet been attained.(Amao)

You are usually conducting research and development to provide a better living environment, but how are you involved in this pavilion?

This time, I am responsible for creating an exhibition plan related to artificial photosynthesis and the Wellness Smart House, which is being jointly researched with Osaka Metropolitan University. I would like to convey thoroughly to visitors the results of Iida Group's research and development conducted this far and its significance. In addition to new research and technologies, I would like to introduce how the Iida Group's daily housing business contributes to the environment.(Hirokawa)

Can you tell us about your enthusiasm for the conception and development of the pavilion.

It is very rare for a technology based on basic research that has been promoted at a university to lead to a demonstration test. We have finally seen the possibility of demonstration testing artificial photosynthesis technology after about 10 years of joint research. At this pavilion, we are looking forward to unveiling the actual machine. In addition, I would like visitors to learn about the wonder of natural photosynthesis, which is a model for artificial photosynthesis.(Amao)

What were the difficulties in the conception and production of the pavilion?

―― What were the difficulties in the conception and production of the pavilion?

We discussed the contents of the exhibition with many stakeholders, and sometimes there were conflicting opinions. However, we worked together to overcome them and to attain our goals. In addition to the collaborative research exhibits of which I am in charge, there are many attractions such as the giant diorama, the main video, and the main body of the pavilion. I hope visitors will enjoy all of it.(Hirokawa)

―― What do you want visitors to feel?

Artificial photosynthesis has long attracted a lot of attention, but it has not yet reached the demonstration phase. However, after about 10 years of research, it has finally become a reality in a tangible form. I would be happy if visitors could see the wonder of natural photosynthesis and how artificial photosynthesis is useful to a society that uses natural photosynthesis as its model, experience it, and realize that it is used in such familiar places.(Amao)

I have watched the construction process of the pavilion from early on, but I feel that many people's efforts came together in terms of structure, its exterior, equipment, and construction. I think that it is a building that combines tradition and evolution. I often have the opportunity to interact with people outside the company who are involved in architecture at academic conferences and symposiums, and have questions about the pavilion building, so I feel how much attention it is getting. In addition to the results of the joint research, I am hoping that the pavilion will firmly convey the features and philosophy of the Iida Group to visitors.(Hirokawa)
